Etymology
The word comes from the surname of Sylvester Graham, a 19th-century American dietary reformer who promoted coarsely ground, unsifted wheat flour as healthier than refined white flour. His name became attached to the flour itself, and later to bread and crackers made with it. Romanian borrowed the term directly from English, as an invariable modifier placed after the noun it describes.
