Etymology
Haidă is a variant of the more common Romanian interjection haide. Romanian borrowed it from Ottoman Turkish haydi, an exhortation meaning roughly come on. The word spread across the Balkans during centuries of Ottoman contact, so it belongs to a shared Balkan vocabulary rather than to inherited Latin stock. It is not traceable to a Proto-Indo-European root.
