Etymology
Ieșit is the past participle of a ieși, "to go out, to exit," one of the core verbs of everyday Romanian. It traces to Vulgar Latin exire, built from ex- ("out") plus ire ("to go"). The same Latin verb gave Italian uscire and Old French issir, whose descendants survive in words like the English borrowing "issue."
