Etymology
Nerăbdare is built from the negative prefix ne- and răbdare, the noun for patience. Răbdare comes from the verb a răbda, to endure or be patient, which Romanian inherited not from Latin but from a Slavic source. That Slavic root is the same one behind words for labor and servitude, such as Bulgarian rabota and the source of the modern word robot. So nerăbdare traces back to a very old idea: patience as the capacity to endure hard, forced work.
