Etymology

Planificat is the past participle of a planifica, a verb Romanian borrowed from French planifier in the 20th century. French built planifier from plan, itself from Latin planus, meaning flat or level. The sense shifted from a physical flat surface to a laid-out scheme or design, and Romanian took over the whole word family along with its meaning.
