Etymology
Pleca descends from Latin plicare, meaning to fold or to bend. In popular Latin the sense narrowed to bending the head or neck, as in a bow, and from there it shifted to bowing out, or taking leave. By the time the word reached Romanian, it had settled into its modern, everyday sense of leaving or departing.
