Etymology
Umple comes from Latin implere, to fill up, a combination of the prefix in- and plere, to fill. The Latin in- became um- in Romanian through normal sound changes, and plere gave the -ple- root. The verb has kept its core Latin meaning almost unchanged for two thousand years.
