Romanian "vis" (dream) comes from Latin "visum," the neuter past participle of "videre," meaning literally "thing seen." Romanian later built the verb "a visa" from this noun with the common first-conjugation ending "-a," the same process that turns "lucru" into "a lucra." The verb is therefore a native Romanian formation, not a direct inheritance from a Latin verb.
