Etymology
أُسْلُوب comes from the Arabic root س-ل-ب (s-l-b), cast in the noun pattern أُفْعُول. In classical usage it named a row of palm trees and then a road or path. From the sense of a path it shifted to mean a way, manner, or method, and later the literary style of a writer.
