Etymology

Idkhāl comes from the Semitic root د-خ-ل (d-kh-l), meaning "to enter" or "to go in." Arabic builds a causative verbal noun from this root using the Form IV template إفعال, so idkhāl literally means "the act of making something enter." Arabic is a Semitic language, not Indo-European, so it has no Proto-Indo-European root or IE cognates.
