Etymology
إِيجاد is the verbal noun of the Form IV verb أَوْجَدَ, 'to bring into existence.' Both come from the triliteral root و-ج-د, whose base sense is 'to find' and 'to exist.' The expected pattern إِوْجاد shifts to إِيجاد because an initial wāw turns into yāʾ after a kasra. The same root gives وَجَدَ, 'he found,' and وُجود, 'existence.'
