تَأَكُّد is the verbal noun of the Form V verb تَأَكَّدَ, to become sure. It is built on the root أ-ك-د, which carries the sense of firmness and certainty and is a variant of the older root و-ك-د. The Form V pattern adds a reflexive sense, so the word names the act of making oneself certain.
