سناradiance, splendor
Etymology
تسنى is the Form V (تفعّل) verb built on the weak root س-ن-و/ي, the same root behind سنة, the word for year. Classical dictionaries describe the base sense as a thing changing or ripening with the passage of years. From that, the verb narrowed to a more abstract sense: a chance ripening into place, or becoming feasible for someone. The modern usage is almost always impersonal, paired with a preposition, as in تسنى له or لم يتسنَّ لي.
