Etymology
تَشَرَّف comes from the Arabic root ش-ر-ف (sh-r-f), which carries the sense of height, nobility, and honor. The base noun شَرَف (sharaf) means honor or high standing. Form V (تَفَعَّلَ) adds a reflexive sense to the causative Form II شَرَّفَ (to honor someone), so تَشَرَّفَ means to consider oneself honored or to gain honor through something. This is a native Semitic root, not an Indo-European one.
