Etymology
دُوار comes from the Semitic root د-و-ر, which carries the sense of turning, circling, and revolving. Arabic builds it on the pattern فُعال, a template also used for disease and bodily-state words like صداع (headache) and زكام (a cold). So دُوار literally names the state produced by the base verb: the feeling that everything is turning.
