Etymology
تَمْوِيل is the verbal noun of the Form II verb مَوَّلَ, meaning to finance or fund. Both trace to the root م و ل, the same root behind مال, the ordinary Arabic word for money or wealth. The Form II pattern adds a causative sense, so the verb literally means to supply someone with money, and the verbal noun names that act. This is a native Semitic derivation, not a borrowing.
