Etymology
The word comes from the Semitic triliteral root ح-ش-ر (ḥ-sh-r), which means to gather, crowd, or herd together. Insects were named for the way they swarm and mass in crowds. The same root gives the classical term for the gathering of people on the Day of Resurrection.
