Etymology
رَدْهَة comes from the Arabic root ر-د-ه, which in Classical Arabic named a natural hollow in rock that collects rainwater. Dictionary writers later widened the sense to any spacious enclosed space, and modern usage settled on 'hall' or 'ward,' as in a hotel lobby or a hospital ward. The root is Semitic, and no link to Indo-European vocabulary is documented.
