سُوقmarketEtymology
سائِق is the active participle of the verb سَاقَ (sāqa), 'to drive or urge on,' from the triliteral root س-و-ق (s-w-q). The root first described driving animals, such as herding cattle, and later extended to driving vehicles. The same root yields سُوق (sūq), the market, the place to which goods were once driven.
