Etymology
سوفيتي is a nisba adjective built on سوفييت, Arabic's direct transliteration of the Russian word 'soviet', meaning council or assembly. Arabic borrowed the term wholesale in the 20th century rather than translating its sense, then attached its own relative-adjective ending to turn the noun into 'Soviet' as a descriptor. Because the loan is recent, it carries no older Semitic root and no inherited Indo-European ancestry within Arabic itself.
