Etymology
صَحِيح comes from the triliteral Semitic root ṣ-ḥ-ḥ, which carries the idea of being sound, whole, and healthy. The same root gives صِحّة ('health') and the verb صَحَّ ('to be true, to hold good'). The adjective applies this core sense to facts and to bodies alike: a correct answer, a valid contract, a healthy person. It follows the common faʿīl adjectival pattern.
