Etymology

Ṣidq comes from the Semitic triliteral root ṣ-d-q, which carries the core sense of being true, correct, or upright. The same root gives Arabic its words for a truthful person, a friend, and charitable giving, since all three involve acting in line with what is right. This is a Semitic root, not an Indo-European one.
