Etymology

مُرَكَّب is the passive participle of the Form II verb رَكَّبَ, which means to assemble, install, or put parts together. Both words come from the triliteral Semitic root ر-ك-ب, whose core sense is mounting or joining one thing to another. The same root gives Arabic راكب, a rider, and مركبة, a vehicle: something you mount and ride. The root is old and Semitic, not Indo-European, so it has no PIE ancestor.
