مُقْتَنِع is the active participle of the Form VIII verb اقْتَنَعَ (iqtanaʿa), 'to become convinced,' built on the triliteral Semitic root ق-ن-ع (q-n-ʿ), which carries the core sense of contentment or satisfaction. Form VIII adds an infixed ت after the first root letter to give a reflexive shade of meaning: to bring oneself to a state of satisfaction or acceptance, hence 'convinced.' The root is native Arabic and Semitic, not Indo-European, so it has no Proto-Indo-European ancestor.
