وَثِيقَةdocumentEtymology
وُثُوق comes from the Semitic triliteral root و-ث-ق, whose core sense is to bind or tie firmly. From that physical idea of a tight bond, Arabic extended the root to the abstract idea of reliability: something firmly fastened can be relied on. وُثُوق is the masdar, or verbal noun, of the verb وَثِقَ (to trust, to rely on), built on the فُعُول pattern.
