Etymology
Αηδιαστικός comes from the verb αηδιάζω, meaning to feel disgust, which in turn comes from the noun αηδία, disgust or nausea. Αηδία goes back to Ancient Greek ἀηδία, unpleasantness, built from the negative prefix ἀ- and ἡδύς, sweet or pleasant. So the word is literally a negation of pleasantness turned into a verb, then into an adjective meaning causing that feeling.
