Etymology

Ατάκα entered Greek from Italian theatrical jargon. In Italian stage practice, attacco denoted the cue at which an actor was to come in with a line. Greek theater slang borrowed the word to mean the delivered line itself, and usage later widened to cover any sharp, memorable spoken line, especially from film, television, or comedy.
