Word family
Etymology
Βιαστικός comes from the verb βιάζω, meaning to force or hasten, joined to the adjective suffix -τικός, which marks a tendency or quality, much like -ive in English. The verb βιάζω in turn goes back to the noun βία, meaning force or strength. So a βιαστικός person is literally one marked by forceful haste.
