Etymology
Δράμα comes from Ancient Greek δρᾶμα, meaning a deed or a thing performed, especially on a stage. It derives from the verb δράω, to do or act. The word passed through Latin into English and other European languages as 'drama', keeping its theatrical sense. The deeper origin of δράω is debated among linguists, so no secure Indo-European root is agreed upon.
