Etymology

Θέα comes from Ancient Greek θέα (théā), meaning a viewing or a sight, built on the same stem as θεάομαι, to look at or behold. That stem also gave Greek θέατρον, the place for watching a spectacle. Beekes and other etymologists treat the ultimate origin of this root as uncertain, possibly pre-Greek, so no secure Indo-European root can be given.
