Etymology
A 20th-century loan into Modern Greek from English 'club', borrowed in its sense of a nightlife/entertainment venue. English 'club' itself originally meant a heavy stick or cudgel (from Old Norse 'klubba') and only later developed the sense of an association of people and then a venue. Greek adopted the word unaltered and indeclinable, like many international loans ending in a consonant cluster.
