Etymology

Ντουλάπι is a diminutive of ντουλάπα, a word Greek borrowed from Ottoman Turkish dolap. The Turkish word itself came from Persian, where it originally referred to a wheel or a revolving cupboard. The term spread across the Balkans during centuries of Ottoman rule and became the everyday Greek word for a closet or cabinet. The final -ι simply marks a smaller or more casual version of a ντουλάπα.
