Etymology
Modern Greek προσθέτω is a back-formation from the aorist stem πρόσθεσα, which belongs to the ancient verb προστίθημι. That verb combines προς- (toward, in addition) with τίθημι (to put, to place). τίθημι goes back to the PIE root *dʰeh₁- (to put, to set), one of the most productive roots in the Indo-European family.
