Etymology
Τούς is the masculine accusative plural of the Greek definite article ὁ/ἡ/τό, and the same form serves as the weak (clitic) personal pronoun 'them' and the enclitic possessive 'their'. The article and clitic both descend from the ancient demonstrative/article, whose oblique stem began with τ-. This goes back to the Proto-Indo-European demonstrative pronoun *so / *to-, the same root that gave the deictic words across the family.
