Etymology

Ψυχολογικός is the adjective form of ψυχολογία (psychology), built by adding the adjectival suffix -ικός. Ψυχολογία itself is a scholarly compound of ψυχή (soul, mind, breath) and -λογία (study of), the latter from λόγος (word, reasoned account). The compound was coined in early modern scholarly Latin and Greek and later reabsorbed into everyday Greek.
