Etymology
Împărți comes from Latin impartire, itself built from the prefix in- and partire, "to divide," a verb derived from pars, partis, "part, share." Romanian kept the old in- prefix as îm- before a labial-friendly cluster and added the native infinitive ending -i. The result is a verb that literally means "to put into parts."
