Etymology
Într-adevăr is built from the preposition în (in) fused with adevăr (truth), so it reads literally as in truth. Adevăr itself comes from the adjective adevărat, traced to a Vulgar Latin form built on verus, meaning true. The word entered everyday Romanian as a way to affirm a statement, much as English speakers say indeed or in truth.
