Etymology
"Adun" is the first-person singular present of "a aduna", from Latin adunare, a compound of ad- ("toward") and unus ("one"). The word originally meant "to make one", to bring separate things into a single group. Romanian kept that core sense and extended it to cover both physical gathering, such as collecting objects or people, and mathematical addition, adding numbers into one sum.
