Etymology
Ambii comes from the Latin ambo, meaning both. Romanian kept this old form mostly in its plural, definite shape, adding the masculine definite article -i to the root ambi-. The everyday spoken alternative is amândoi, but ambii survives in more formal or written Romanian.
