Etymology
Amintit is the past participle of the verb a aminti, meaning to remind, recall, or mention. The verb is built internally in Romanian from minte, meaning mind, which comes from Latin mens, mentis. The prefix a- and the verbal suffix turned the noun mind into a verb meaning roughly to bring back to mind.
