Etymology

Aranjament came into Romanian from French arrangement in the nineteenth century, part of a wave of French borrowings that reshaped Romanian's modern vocabulary. The French word itself comes from arranger, to put in order, joined to the noun-forming suffix -ment. Romanian adapted the ending to -ament, matching a pattern already present in older Latin-based borrowings such as regulament and armament.
