Etymology
Comandament entered Romanian from French commandement, itself built on the verb commander plus the noun-forming suffix -ement. Commander in turn traces to Latin commandare, a reinforced form of mandare, to entrust or order. Romanian kept both the concrete military sense, a command post, and the abstract sense, a felt duty or dictate.
