Considera comes from Latin considerare, meaning to examine or contemplate closely. Latin grammarians traditionally split this into com- (together, thoroughly) and sidus, sideris (star), reading the verb as observing the stars for a reading or omen. Modern etymologists treat this star link as uncertain rather than settled fact. The word passed into Romanian through the ordinary Latin-to-Romance line, alongside its sisters in French, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese.
