Etymology
Drăguță is the feminine singular of drăguț, built from drag, meaning "dear, beloved", plus the diminutive suffix -uț/-uță. Drag itself is a Slavic borrowing into Romanian, related to words for "dear" or "expensive" in neighboring Slavic languages. Adding the diminutive turns "dear" into "a bit dear", which softened over time into "nice" or "cute".
