Etymology
Găsit is the past participle of the verb a găsi, to find. Unlike most core Romanian verbs, a găsi does not come from Latin, and its origin is disputed among linguists. Some propose a link to a Balkan substrate word or an early Slavic borrowing, but no theory has won general acceptance, so standard Romanian dictionaries list its etymology as uncertain.
