Etymology
Gură comes from Latin gula, which meant throat or gullet. Over the centuries the meaning in Romanian shifted from the throat itself to the mouth, the opening through which one eats and speaks. The same Latin root gave Italian gola (throat) and French gueule (an animal's mouth, or a rough word for a person's mouth).
