Etymology
Romanian borrowed "minor" directly from Latin "minor," the comparative form of "parvus" (small). The word entered modern Romanian in the 19th century as part of the wave of Latin and French legal and administrative vocabulary adopted during the language's re-Latinization. It kept its Latin legal sense: someone smaller in years, not yet of full legal standing.
