Etymology
Romanian borrowed reclamă from French réclame, a noun meaning advertisement or publicity that developed from the verb réclamer, to call back or demand. The French verb in turn descends from Latin reclamare, to cry out against or protest, built from re- and clamare, to shout. The Romanian verb a reclama, meaning to complain or file a claim, comes from the same Latin root but entered the language on a separate path, so today the noun reclamă and the verb a reclama feel like different words despite the shared ancestry.
