"Tă" is a worn-down, dialectal form of the Romanian possessive adjective "ta" ("your," feminine singular). Along with "tău," "tăi," and "tale," it descends from the Latin possessive "tuus, tua, tuum," which in turn goes back to a Proto-Indo-European possessive built on the second-person pronoun. In popular speech, especially in Moldavia, the unstressed final vowel of enclitic "ta" flattens to a schwa, so "soră-ta" ("your sister") becomes "soru-tă," and "mă-ta" ("your mother," colloquial) becomes "mă-tă."
