Etymology
Vărsa comes from Latin versare, meaning to turn repeatedly or to pour, itself a frequentative of vertere, to turn. The turning sense faded in Romanian, leaving the pouring and spilling meaning that survives today. The same Latin verb gave related words across the Romance languages.
